Stage 3 : MONITORING

Monitoring is important to measure the effectiveness of climate action efforts at MBIP, it ensures that the measures taken have a positive impact on the reduction of greenhouse gases and meet the goals of environmental sustainability.

Therefore, MBIP monitors changes in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions through regular GHG Inventory. As well as observing the impact of the implementation of each initiative (program / project) carried out to ensure its impact on the environment.

MBIP GREENHOUSE GAS (GHG) EMISSION INVENTORY

The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Inventory Study at MBIP is important to measure and understand the amount and type of greenhouse gas released consisting of the Energy Sector, Industrial Process and Product Use Sector (IPPU), Agriculture Sector, Land Use Sector, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) and the Waste Sector in the MBIP area.

This GHG inventory involves the Iskandar Malaysia Area which includes five (5) PBTs namely Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG), Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu), and Pontian District Council. This study was carried out by IRDA for the year 2015 until 2019.

By developing this GHG inventory, each PBT in the Iskandar Malaysia Area can estimate and identify emission sources, analyze and estimate GHG emissions in the future. Ghg inventories can also help in measuring the benefits of activities that reduce emissions and also set goals or targets for future GHG reductions.
