Learning City

The city of Iskandar Puteri is now heading towards the recognition of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Learning City next year. The recognition from the international organization aims to create good practices in promoting quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.

In order to realize that dream, a Preparatory Workshop on the Direction of Becoming a Learning City led by Sheikh Faisal Sheikh Mansor, UNESCO's special consultant for Learning Cities was held on March 24 and 25. Attended by 14 secretariats appointed to ensure the implementation of the program. The workshop discussed Iskandar Puteri's preparedness towards a recognized city. Earlier, the matter was informed by YB Dato’ Mohd Haffiz Ahmad, Mayor of MBIP in his message at the Full Meeting Number 3/2024.

Learning City is a city that promotes lifelong learning for all where the Iskandar Puteri City Council has great opportunities with commitment, participation and involvement from the community and stakeholders. With a planned monitoring, evaluation process, and sufficient funds, this can provide opportunities and space for everyone to follow lifelong learning in Iskandar Puteri.
