HEARING CONSERVATION PROGRAM
20 & 21 May 2024 (Monday and Tuesday )
The Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) has held a Hearing Conservation Program to identify noise hazards, as well as the implementation of a hearing protection program in accordance with legislation.
The second day of the program was followed by an On-Site Audiometric Test Screening inspection for workers exposed to noise while on duty.
According to the Industry Code of Practice for the Management of Employee Noise Exposure and Hearing Conservation 2019, before the audiometric test is carried out, employees must be in a quiet period i.e. must not be exposed to noise levels above 80 dB (A) for a period of at least 14 hours without wearing Personal Hearing Protection (PHP).
During the session, a total of 50 employees were screened to get the initial reading (basement reading). The workers are in accordance with the recommendations of the Noise Risk Assessment (NRA) report that has been carried out and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act of the Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019
This screening will continue to be conducted annually to monitor and identify noise risks and protect workers from hearing problems due to work.
