Unesco Learning City Benchmarking Visit to Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ)
As an initial step towards the recognition of the Learning City by UNESCO, the Iskandar Puteri Learning City Secretariat (IPLC) of the Iskandar Puteri City Council visited the Petaling Jaya City Council, which is a learning city that was recognized by UNESCO in 2019 as one of the learning city benchmarking sessions.
This visit was represented by 19 members of the IPLC secretariat
led by YM Ungku Suzana binti Ungku Mohammad, MBIP Secretary, Mr. Shahrulizam bin Abdul Rashid, MBIP Deputy Secretary and Head of IPLC Secretariat, Mr. Fakhrul Zafran bin ABSL Kamarul Azman and Mr. Nobli bin Mohd Nassir, MBIP Council Members and members of the IPLC secretariat.
Also receiving the visit of the MBIP delegation were the Blessed Tuan Haji Mohamad Zahri bin Haji Samingon, the Mayor of Petaling Jaya, the Blessed Tuan Aznan bin Hj. Hassan, Deputy Mayor of Petaling Jaya, Tuan Ts Samsul Bahari bin Nonchi, Head of Petaling Jaya Learning City Secretariat and MBPJ directors.
The IPLC Secretariat has been taken to learning centers around Petaling Jaya that can give ideas towards the recognition of learning cities, namely PJ Eco Recycling Plaza, MBPJ Urban Agriculture Center (Hydroponic and Aquaculture Greenhouse), PJ Arena Sports Complex, and Petaling Jaya Community Library.
