Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) held the Rural Unity & Mentoring For Orang Asli Heritage 2024 Program (RUMAH '24)

This program aims to foster the spirit of leadership and volunteerism among the students involved through the implementation of activities with the Orang Asli community as well as training students to interact with rural communities with various religious, cultural and educational backgrounds.

The program was further enhanced by the presence of the Honorable Datuk Haji Pandak bin Haji Ahmad, Kota Iskandar assemblyman, together with Puan Hajah Zainab binti Bakar, Leisure Farm Zone Council Member, and Tok Batin Nori Kasi as community leaders of the Simpang Arang Indigenous Village.

Also present was an officer from MBIP, Mr. Ruziman bin Rahmat, Mr. Shahril Izwan bin Abdullah, Mrs. Nurul Natasha Roslan and Mrs. Nurfaizzah Juhari.

Various activities are carried out with the Orang Asli community such as making fried poppies, health screening from the UTM Health Center, JPN reruai, folk sports, cultural nights and cooking (rewang) with the community.

The community is also exposed to hydroponic cultivation through Green Earth Activities. The community can learn something new in the science of community garden agriculture.

Almost 200 people from the community also made the activities organized by various government agencies/departments a success, including the National Registration Department (JPN) and Kampung Simpang Arang Religious School. Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) such as Yayasan Ikram Negeri Johor and Adabi Consumer Industries Sdn. Bhd. also involved in providing sponsor support in this program.
