MONSOON DRAIN WIDENING AND UPGRADING PROJECT : MBIP'S EFFORTS TO ADDRESS THE FRAGILITY OF OUTDATED INFRASTRUCTURE, MTL AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Iskandar Puteri MBIP City Council is currently carrying out a project to widen and upgrade the monsoon drain in Jalan Pakis/Rotan, Taman Sri Pulai. This project involves widening the main ditch with replacement to a U-shaped drain, construction of retaining walls, and other repair work.
This project aims to deal with the problem of outdated drainage infrastructure as well as facing the impact of heavy rains and climate change that cause damage to drainage systems and landslides. It is expected to help improve the safety and well-being of the population, in addition to reducing the risk of flooding and socio-economic activities in this area.
This project has been planned since 2022 and is part of MBIP's ongoing efforts to upgrade and rejuvenate infrastructure in old high-density residential areas. With the support of the residents, this project is expected to be completed on schedule and free from any encroachment.
The project is still under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
