MBIP IS COMMITTED TO DEALING WITH THE FLOOD ISSUE IN THE SKUDAI AREA HOTSPOT
The Council is always committed to taking proactive measures to deal with flood issues, especially in the face of the challenges of the Northeast Monsoon and climate change.
On 30 November 2024 (Saturday), an engagement session and visit to the flood hotspot area at Jalan Kilang Nenas Batu 8½, Skudai, was held with the Honorable Puan Marina Ibrahim, Skudai assemblyman, the local community, traders and residents.
As a result of the discussion, several mitigation measures were agreed:
1. Construction and widening of new drains
2. Enlargement of road crossing culvert
3. Demolition of built structures that obstruct the flow of water
An allocation application of RM 1 million will be forwarded to KPKT to implement this project.
Short-term measures, including minor drain repairs and tree felling, will be immediately carried out by maintenance contractors to reduce the impact of flooding in this area.
