INTRODUCTION

The establishment of Koperasi Iskandar Puteri Berhad was undertaken by Ts. Mohd Zamri bin Buang, Employee Level Chairman of the Departmental Joint Council, Iskandar Puteri City Council at the beginning of 2018. The Sponsor Secretary Committee (cooperatives in the establishment) has been created consisting of 3 people namely Ts. Mohd Zamri bin Buang, Mr. Muhammad A'zim bin Abd Karim and Puan Nor Ardiza binti Md Amin. This committee always holds meetings and discussions with the Malaysian Cooperative Commission to obtain advice and conditions for the establishment of cooperatives.

The idea of establishing Koperasi Iskandar Puteri Berhad was also brought up in the Joint Department Meeting, Iskandar Puteri City Council by the Honorable Dato’ Haji Adib Azhari bin Daud, Mayor of Iskandar Puteri City Council. He requested that a staff cooperative be established to make it easier for staff to get involved in loan and investment activities. He has also named this cooperative as Koperasi Iskandar Puteri Berhad.

Therefore, the Representative of the Workers' Party, the Departmental Joint Council has been mandated by the Mayor to form a committee to discuss the conditions that need to be complied with before holding the Initial General Meeting of the establishment of staff cooperatives. Therefore, on 16 July 2018 at the Skudai MBIP Multipurpose Hall, the Iskandar Puteri Berhad Cooperative Initial General Meeting was held attended by 350 prospective members to consider and approve the Establishment and Registration of Cooperatives, Acceptance of Cooperative Bylaws, Selection of Cooperative Board Members and Cooperative Budget.

On 13 September 2018, Koperasi Iskandar Puteri Berhad was officially successfully registered by the Malaysian Cooperative Commission and the cooperative bylaws were approved. The first Cooperative Board members were formed as many as 9 people chaired by Ts. Mohd Zamri bin Buang.

The function of the cooperative is a type of service and carries out the main activities such as contract work of services and supplies, services, cleaning of buildings and areas, beautification of landscapes and decorations and event organizers, promotion of tourism and transport.

The current membership of the cooperative is 119 people and is open to all serving staff, former employees and retirees of the Iskandar Puteri City Council. The establishment of this Cooperative is one of the important elements in contributing to the staff welfare agenda at the Iskandar Puteri City Council. Of course, it will continue to be a memory that will not be forgotten to anyone who is directly or indirectly involved in making the goals of this cooperative a success. Recording of the highest appreciation to the cooperative establishment committee consisting of representatives of the employee level grade for the 2018/2019 session.
