Legal Department
Background
Legal Department acts as a legal advisor including representing and defending the Iskandar Puteri City Council in court legal cases. Legal Department is also responsible for drafting laws for the Iskandar Puteri City Council to comply with, carrying out prosecution matters related to law enforcement including under the Act and Bylaws enforced, completion of agreement documents and case management of rent arrears claims, property tax and insurance. Apart from carrying out management and administrative functions, the Legal Department carries out five (5) other main functions which include the prosecution of cases of violations of the law enforced by the Iskandar Puteri City Council, the drafting of legislation, particularly Bylaws, Orders and Rules in accordance with relevant legal authority, preparation and review of agreements and memorandums of understanding, civil claims management either takes legal action or manages lawsuit cases by ensuring that the defense is managed perfectly and provides legal advice to all stakeholders including Council Meetings, MBIP internal departments and residents who need legal insight.
