1. What is Property Tax?
Property Tax is a tax levied on owners and occupants of proportional holdings located within the administrative Area under the jurisdiction of the Council.
2. Who is the property tax payer?
If you own a house, shop house/office shop/gas station/factory/hotel, vacant land or other proportional holding located within the council area, you will be subject to property tax.
3. Why pay property tax?
Collection from property tax is required to cover the council's expenses in providing municipal services and maintenance such as grass cutting, street lighting and public facilities for the well-being of the community.
4. Where can property tax bills be paid?
Customers can make payments at the following locations :
- Payment counter at Iskandar Puteri City Council headquarters.
- UTC Branch (Urban Transformation Center). at Galeria Kotaraya Johor Bahru- 3rd floor.
- Payment counter in Taman Perling.
- Maybank2u.
- Jompay (Biller Code: 37317).

5. When should it be paid?
Property Tax must be paid twice a year :
- ½ first year – 1hb. January to 28th. February.
- ½ second year – 1hb. July to 31st. August for every year.
6. What will happen if the tax is not paid within that period?
According to Section 148 of Act 171, legal actions are as follows :
• Notice (Form E) will be charged along with a late fee. The owner is required to explain within fifteen days from the date the notice is posted/submitted.
• If it still fails, a Detention Warrant (Form F) along with a sum of warrant costs will be issued and your movable property may be confiscated.
7. What to do if the bills are not received?
Print the bill yourself at the Property Tax Review Counter “Self Service” at the Iskandar Puteri City Council Headquarters Payment Counter.
8. If I am only a tenant of the house / building, what should I do?
You can submit these bills to the owner for immediate payment. If the owner fails to pay the tax within the specified period, your movable property in the building may be confiscated. To prevent your movable property from being confiscated, you can pay property tax by paying the arrears with the rental value paid to the owner until the arrears are settled as per the authority given in Section 151(5) and Section 151(6) of the Local Government Act (Act 171).
9. Why is my property tax different from my neighbor's?
Property tax differences are due to :
- Type of building
- Land/building area
- Building area
- Building use
10. If I have changed ownership/sold/bequeathed a house/property. What should I do?
Inform the Property Valuation & Management Department by filling in Form I/Form J and other related matters within 3 months after the transfer of ownership is done. If you fail to do so, the council can take action according to section 160(6) of Act 171. The form can be obtained at www.mbip.gov.my.
11. How can I get a stall/ceremony hall rental application form?

12. How to claim stall/hall rental trust money?
a) Application through the hall/stall rental trust money claim form
b) Applicants need to attach the required documents and send the form and documents at the Rental Counter, Level G, MBIP
13. How to make stall rental payment?
Payment can be made at the MBIP Rental Counter, collection at the rental premises by MBIP officers authorized to collect revenue and e-Services.
14. How to get stall vacancy information?
Other stall/premises vacancy advertisements can be checked through the MBIP website, MBIP official Facebook, notice boards in the MBIP office building, Level G Rental Counters, MBIP and advertisements will be pasted on empty premises.
15. What facilities are provided at the MBIP Multipurpose Hall?
Dewanraya MBIP provides hall rental services for weddings, official ceremonies and other celebrations (depending on the request and approval of the Council) as well as badminton courts. Some halls also provide tennis, squash and futsal courts (please refer to the MBIP Website)
